LEBANON, Tenn. - Tyler Reddick paced the NASCAR Cup Series field in Friday’s practice session at Nashville Superspeedway with a best lap of 162.250 mph in his No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota.
The practice session will provide the teams with vital information heading into Saturday’s qualifying session at noon that will set the starting lineup for Sunday’s sold-out Ally 400 at 6 p.m. CT (NBC, PRN Radio).
Cup Series points leader Martin Truex Jr. was second with a speed of 161.408 mph in his No. 19 machine and Ross Chastain, who is currently fourth overall in the standings, posted a fast lap of 161.370 mph in his No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevy that was good enough for third in the practice session.
Defending Ally 400 winner Chase Elliott was eighth in his No. 9 Chevy with a 160-mph lap, and third-place points sitter Ryan Blaney was 13th overall in his No. 12 Team Penske Ford. Second-place points earner William Byron, who has claimed three victories this season was fifth in practice, posting a speed of 160.914 mph in his No. 24 Chevy.
