SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK TO BENEFIT
FROM NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY EFFORTS

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – The Nashville Superspeedway will hold a food and funds drive for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee at the race on Saturday, 11 June. The Superspeedway drive is sponsored by the Nashville Superspeedway, Pepsi and Save-A-Lot Stores. The efforts will help raise much-needed food and funds for the Food Bank.
Collection bins and Second Harvest representatives will be located in front of the main gate to the Superspeedway. Fans may begin donating food at 3:00 PM, when the gates open. Donations will be accepted until 7:00 PM, when the race begins. Items collected at the food drive will be used in Second Harvest’s Emergency Food Box Program. Most needed items include peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, canned fruit, and canned meats such as tuna fish and beef stew.
“We appreciate the support of the Nashville Superspeedway and the fantastic efforts behind the scenes that help Second Harvest feed hungry people. I am grateful for all those involved,” stated Jaynee Day, President and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
Organized in 1978, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is a private, not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization. The Food Bank is a member of America’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network. Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee’s mission is to feed hungry people and work to solve hunger issues in our community. In FYE 2004, Second Harvest distributed more than 14 million pounds of food. Each year, the Food Bank works with a network of almost 500 not-for-profit agencies (e.g., soup kitchens, day care centers, senior citizens’ centers, food pantries) in 46 Middle and West Tennessee counties.
