NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY
NASCAR FOUNDATION’S FOURTH ANNUAL
BLOOD DRIVE SET FOR
SEPTEMBER 11
(Lebanon, Tenn., Aug. 27, 2009) – Nashville Superspeedway is hosting a blood drive
on Sept. 11 in conjunction with The NASCAR Foundation’s Fourth Annual Blood
Drive presented by Nationwide Insurance.
Each year
the blood drive mobilizes some of NASCAR’s biggest entities - drivers, sponsors,
teams and tracks - in an effort to help meet the on-going need for more than
39,000 blood donations every day.
The national effort,
spearheaded by The NASCAR Foundation, aims to help maintain safe blood supply levels and lessen the
blood shortages that often occur during the summer months and around holidays.
In 2008, 29 tracks participated in the national drive. The NASCAR Foundation’s overall drive
collected 4,261 pints of blood, potentially saving more than 12,000 lives. To learn more visit www.nashvillesuperspeedway or www.nascar.com/foundation.
You can join the
effort by donating blood on Friday, Sept. 11, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at
Nashville Superspeedway (
First
Floor
Media
Center) located at
4847-F McCrary Road in
Lebanon. Please
schedule your blood donation appointment online at www.givelife.org.
All presenting blood
donors will receive a gift bag, generously donated by 3M. You may
also register to win a
Nashville Superspeedway 2010 race package and
O’Charley’s gift cards. Plus, the first 150
participants have an opportunity to “take a few laps” around the track behind
the pace car!
Donors
must be in general good health, weigh 110 pounds or more, and be at least 17
years old (16 with completed Parental
Consent Form). Please bring your
donor card or photo ID and allow approximately 60 minutes for the entire blood
donation process.
