LEBANON, Tenn. — Nashville is known around the world as Music City, but its appeal goes beyond country music. From live entertainment and Southern food to historic neighborhoods and major sporting events, Tennessee's capital offers something for nearly every type of traveler, including sports fans.
Experience Music City
Music is at the heart of Nashville. Visitors can explore Lower Broadway, where honky-tonks and live music venues line the streets, or tour the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to learn about the artists who shaped the genre. The Grand Ole Opry offers a chance to see a show on one of country music's most storied stages.
For a quieter look at the industry behind the music, visitors can walk through Music Row, home to recording studios and music business offices. Neighborhoods such as 12 South offer boutiques, restaurants and murals.
Explore Nashville's food scene
Nashville has become a destination for food lovers, with restaurants ranging from traditional Southern cooking to modern culinary experiences. Hot chicken remains one of the city's signature dishes, while barbecue and meat-and-three restaurants are staples throughout the area.
Visitors can also find a growing number of coffee shops, breweries and locally owned restaurants, making it easy to turn a weekend trip into a culinary adventure.
Make a stop at Nashville Superspeedway
Racing fans can add a trip to Nashville Superspeedway, a concrete oval in Lebanon about 30 miles southeast of Nashville. The track hosts a NASCAR triple-header each year, and the 2027 weekend is June 4-6, with the Cracker Barrel 400 Cup Series race on Sunday, June 6. Fans can watch from the grandstands, explore the fan zone and camp on site, making race weekend part of a longer Nashville getaway.
Catch a Predators or Titans game
Nashville is a strong sports town year-round. The Predators play at Bridgestone Arena, at the foot of Lower Broadway, with home games throughout the NHL season. Football fans can see the Titans at Nissan Stadium, just across the Cumberland River from downtown, where a new stadium is planned to open next door.
Enjoy the outdoors and local attractions
Beyond downtown, visitors can find parks, trails and historic sites throughout the region. Centennial Park, home to a full-scale replica of the Parthenon, is a good place to slow down and enjoy the outdoors.
Whether you're visiting for the music, food, sports or Southern hospitality, Nashville offers plenty of reasons to stay a little longer. With NASCAR in June, football on Sundays and hockey through the winter, the city's energy doesn't stop when the music does.
