LEBANON, Tenn. — NASCAR Hall of Famer and Middle Tennessee resident Darrell Waltrip will throw out the ceremonial first pitch during tonight’s Nashville Sounds home game against the Omaha Storm Chasers at First Horizon Park.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. CT for the home team’s “Racing Night” as the bout between Nashville (9-9) and Omaha (11-7) starts at 6:35 p.m. CT. The contest will be followed by the FOX 17 News postgame fireworks show.

After the first pitch, Waltrip will sign autographs for fans through the first few innings of the game.

Fans can participate in a host of race-related activities throughout the game, and a specialty theme night ticket is available that includes a ticket to the game and the NASCAR Xfinity Series Tennessee Lottery 250 on June 29.

Nashville Superspeedway’s Ford Mustang Mach 1 pace car will be on site at First Horizon Park.

Waltrip, a NASCAR legend and Kentucky native, is a legendary figure in the world of motorsports. With three Winston Cup championships and 84 victories to his name, Waltrip’s impact on the sport is undeniable. Beyond his track accomplishments, he is hailed as one of the most influential individuals in stock car racing history. Waltrip’s rise in the 1980s coincided with NASCAR’s increased television coverage, where his articulate and charismatic persona made him the perfect ambassador for the sport. Despite his polished image, Waltrip was a fierce competitor known for his tenacity on the track. His dedication to racing was unmatched, as evidenced by his willingness to endure injuries to continue competing.
