Chandler Smith, driving the No. 18 Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports, notched the fastest practice speed Friday morning at Nashville Superspeedway for tonight’s “Rackley Roofing 200”.

Smith, an 18-year-old Georgia native, turned a lap of 161.489 mph on the 1.33-mile concrete oval.

“I love this race track,” Smith said. “I feel like it’s a driver’s track. It really drives like a short track, which I love to death.”

NASCAR Cup Series regular William Byron was second quickest, followed by Tyler Ankrum, Grant Enfinger and Chase Purdy.

Green flag is set for just after 7 p.m. today. Qualifying begins at 4:05 p.m.

The Truck Series qualifying record for Nashville Superspeedway is held by Erik Darnell with a lap of 162.116 mph (29.601 seconds) set on Aug. 12, 2006.

In addition to Byron, NASCAR Cup Series stars Ross Chastain and Ryan Preece are also entered in today’s race.
